Upgrading camera equipment and changing brands??

Wanted some opinions on upgrading camera equipment. Is it worth going from an entry level DSLR to mid-range or hold out till later on and move to a professional full frame DSLR?

I have a Sony A200 and being using it for over a year. I have a few lenses and a good flash. I liked the Sony because I can buy the old Minolta lens and they are inexpensive. I have the opportunity to sell it all at a good price. I was thinking of going to a mid-range Canon or Nikon but then I’d have to start over buying lenses, flash etc. I’m assuming the accessories are going to be a lot more expensive with these brands? I figure in the long run I’d eventually be getting a professional level Canon or Nikon so might as well start now (or should I stick with Sony? Then I can use the same lens and the A200 as a backup camera).

Also are there any pro’s out there using the high end Sony DSLR’s? I’m enrolled in a photography program in college and they only talk about Nikon and Canon so I figure that’s only what the pro’s are using.

Any advice appreciated.

Hi all! I’m looking for a DSLR camera!?

I’d like to upgrade my ‘point & shoot’ digital sony compact camera for a DSLR.
I’m pretty good at manipulating jpegs taken with my compact in photoshop but, i’d love to buy a DSLR that will produce good wide angle flicks with even light exposure & decent quality twilight landscapes! I can’t afford to spend too much cus i’m skint and i’m an ameture but, i’ve seen a ‘Sony A200′ DSLR for about £380!

I really want to snap wide angle pics for PSD editing! Is this a good entry level camera to go for? And does anyone know if that particular camera would come with a wide angle lense?

Please advise!!!

Cheers, Craig. Worcester, England!

Any suggestions on entry level dSLR ?

I’m think about buying a digital SLR camera for a long time. There are a lot of choices out in the market and I still can’t make a decision.
Nikon D40 and Sony A200 are the two in my mind. Sony has a 10.2 mega pixels over Nikon’s 6.0 mega, but I probably won’t print out any photos bigger then A4. Nikon D60 and Canon 450D are also under consideration. Does it worth paying more for a entry level? Any another suggestion about other products?

Many thanks
