I have been in the canon family now and I have made a decision to move to Nikon. I went from an Xsi to a 50D and I am figuring out which Nikon body to get. Should I just get a entry level like the new D3100 that has came out. Or maybe something like the D90. I was thinking about the D300 but that is all the money I have and I would rather spend it on glass. I mainly shoot portraits and weddings. And video on the camera is just something I would play around with. So I would like to hear on what bodies you recommend and some lenses as well. Since I am new to the Nikon family. And maybe some input on what I should know about Nikon.
There is also the rumored D7000 to replace the D90 so my options are endless at this point.
Honestly the reason for switching is the experience I have with a Nikon. I have been a fan of the Nikkor line and the lenses I want from it is far more cheaper then the ones I want for canon. Also shooting with a nikon the iso performance much more smoother then and a canon which is a must for me being that I mainly shoot indoors. Another plus for me is flash control I find it easier use a flash on a nikon rather then canon.

I’m just getting into photography, and i’m really feeling the need for a real camera – so far i’ve been shooting on fuji point and shoot, but i need more. So i’ve been looking for a DSLR.
I’ve heard good things about the canon 450D, and the nikon D5000, and i’ve heard a lot of people saying ‘don’t bother with sony’ but is this just snobbery? Sony cameras seem to be a lot cheaper – i can get the entry level sony (i think it’s the 230) for €500, including an 18-55 and a 55-200. in comparison the entry level nikon and canon are around €650-750 with one lense (18-55).
Also, is entry level good enough? or should i get a better model? Price isn’t really an issue, but at the same time i’m not going to waste my money on an expensive camera if a cheaper one does the same job.
If you want an idea of what i shoot, http://khayman82.deviantart.com/gallery/ http://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/1052914/viewall and http://www.bigstockphoto.com/profile/afterglow82 have most of my favourites between them
For a bonus point, what lenses would you say i need for these kind of shots? (i’m getting more into modelling and portrait photography)

I don’t need anything too fancy, just an entry-level starter digital slr camera kit.
preferably something under 0
I was looking at the Canon Rebel XT, but you can’t use the LCD screen as a viewfinder and it doesn’t make videos which is kind of a turn-off for the money I would pay for it.
I was also considering the nikon d40 or d40x
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated
I’m not really that concerned about the video part, more so about the view finder

I’m looking for an entry-level/intermediate level DSLR camera with very high level 1080p video. I was looking on amazon, and the Panasonic dmc-gh1k appealed to me, because of the cheap 0 price, but it seemed odd to me, because it was so cheap. But for a 100 dollars more, I could buy the Nikon D3100.
tl/dr, which camera is more worth the money, and has high-quality 1080p video, the Panasonic Dmc-gh1k, or the Nikon D3100?

I have been doing photography for 8 years now, albeit in a sporadic way. I am considered to have promise and be a good photographer by those who have seen my work. I would like, in time, to make money from this.
I had a Nikon D200 before, but sold it off with the lenses, as it was too heavy for me to carry around daily.
I like the Olympus, but have heard it has an inferior chip, plus it is an entry level dslr which kind of puts me off.
I love Nikon’s build quality, but the D80 is still a fairly heavy camera.
The Canon felt good in my hands, the same as the Olympus, but I hate the plasticky feel of it.
Any recommendations?
I do a lot of portrait and nature photography.
