best entry level DSLR that records 1080p?

So i’m a keen photographer. Less that a year ago i bought a digital camera that looks like a DSLR which films in 1080p. My parents talked me out of a dslr because i couldn’t film with ones in my price range.
Now, with jobs coming thick and fast, i have found that the Nikon D3100 seems to have everything i am looking for in a mid range camera which is what i am looking for.

Would this be a good camera to go for? Are they’re any similar models?

my budget is yet to exist, but i can say no more than £600. plus i dont want to be in need of a new lense not long after my purchase.

Thanks in advance

Canon vs. Nikon, rivalry? Why?

I was recently in the market for a new DSLR, and so I went to a local photography shop asking for advice on brands and models, the first guy I talked to told me to have a look at the canon Rebel range, over hearing this, another woker came over, told me Canon was rubbish and that Nikon was the only way to go. YEah, it helped me a lot! So I ended up buying a pentax.
My question is, when and why did this ridiculous rivalry between nikon owners and canon owners start, for entry-levels,a camera is a camera isnt it?!?
SO yeah, if you can give me an actual reason why Nikon/Canon is better than the other, then do so!
Thanks!

Can someone explain Nikon’s line of DSLRs in comparison to Canon’s in terms of feature set, price, and release date?

For example, would a Canon 450D be comparable a Nikon D60, Canon 500D = Nikon D70? What Nikons would be comparable to Canon’s Mark, Rebel XS, and 50/40/30D series?

What do more or less zeros mean (Nikon D5000 vs Nikon D300S vs Nikon D90 vs Nikon D3)? It seems that for Canon, the less zeros means it’s more professional (So Canon’s 1000D is a basic entry level, 300-500D is entry level, 30-50D is mid range, 5D is compact professional, 1D is non-compact professional). How does it work for Nikon?

Thanks for your help.
Thanks Ace Ventura. Is there a certain logic to the way Nikon names their models?

Should my first DSLR be the D3100 or D90?

I had my mind set on the D3100 but my friend is really against that as he said that it is a really super entry level camera and is not going to do any good in the long run. He asked me to buy a D90 instead. He uses that and I always use his if I had the chance. I really like the D90 and I know it’s really good so now I’m really stuck between these two models.

I know what is ISO, shutter speed and other terms and I just find the D3100 is easier to use as most of the stuff you need to adjust are not embedded in the menu unlike other cameras. I love taking photographs of landscapes, animals, portraits and macro shots.

Should I get the D3100 or D90 as my first DSLR?
