What is the good entry level DSLR for me?

I do a lot of filming, and love to shoot photos.
so i would really like a camera that shoots videos in HD quality and great pictures.
i have been searching for many but i don’t believe i know enough yet to pick one out.
There are so many to choose from and i would really appreciate if someone showed me some great choices. preferably under 700 dollars.
thanks a lot.

Hi all! I’m looking for a DSLR camera!?

I’d like to upgrade my ‘point & shoot’ digital sony compact camera for a DSLR.
I’m pretty good at manipulating jpegs taken with my compact in photoshop but, i’d love to buy a DSLR that will produce good wide angle flicks with even light exposure & decent quality twilight landscapes! I can’t afford to spend too much cus i’m skint and i’m an ameture but, i’ve seen a ‘Sony A200′ DSLR for about £380!

I really want to snap wide angle pics for PSD editing! Is this a good entry level camera to go for? And does anyone know if that particular camera would come with a wide angle lense?

Please advise!!!

Cheers, Craig. Worcester, England!

Questions about Canon DSLR?

I just bought a Canon Rebel XS 1000D at Best Buy. It came with the kit lens 18-55mm.

This is just a basic entry level DSLR camera but I’d love to get into photography with it. Can I get better quality pictures with a different lens? Im not looking into upgrading cameras just yet, but heard it’s really all about the type of lens you’re using anyway.

What lens for this camera would be good to use for getting better aperture (blurry background) & RAW pictures?

What flash for this camera helps take great lit indoor photos?

(If it helps I’d like to do weddings, family and children photography). Yes, I’m a beginner, but I catch on quickly and like to jump right in. I plan to do free sessions for the next year or two for practice and see where my skills are at that point. =)

***Immature and purposely unhelpful answers will be given a thumbs down and/or reported***

I’m a first year photography major in college. So far I’ve taken a basic digital class and a black and white film class and very much know that photography is what I want to do with my life. While taking my digital class I bought a Panasonic Lumix FZ35, which is nice and has enough manual capabilities to keep me satisfied for a little while. What I mean by that is, I’m willing to wait 6 months or so to save up 00-00 to spend on a quality DSLR.
Let me start off by saying I definitely plan on visiting a camera store and actually holding and trying out various DSLRs before I decide which one to buy, but I’d like to go in with a good idea of what I want. I’m 90% sure I want to go with Canon or Nikon because they have the largest selection of lenses and equipment. I have an inclination towards Canon, probably because my film SLR is a Canon and I’m happy with it. However, I’ve met plenty of people who are madly in love with Nikon (even people who aren’t even remotely photographers, and I’m not even sure how that’s possible).
What I want in a camera is something with at least 12 megapixels for large-ish prints, but a big enough sensor so there isn’t a lot of noise. An ISO range of at least 3200-6400 would be good because I’m interested in night and concert photography. I’m also interested in video and multimedia art, so something with good HD video capabilities is important also. Like I said I’m definitely willing to spend more on something that isn’t an entry level DSLR, but 00 for a body and a lens or two is about my limit.

I seek your help. I want to buy an DSLR (entry level). I ve explored the P&S’s to the max and want to switch to DSLR as bridge camera does not suit my taste. I ve short listed EOS1000D and Nikon 3000D.
Earlier I had decided to go for 1000D but review of D3000 put me in dilemma. So I want to share some pros and cons of both (which may be the cause of my confusion)

Nikon D3000:
Pros:
•Great 3D tracking system for Autofocus accuracy. Its better than Canon
•Focusing in low light is little better that canon
•Build quality is a bit better.
•Kit Lens with VR

Cons:
•No WB and ISO dedicated button (as I experiment with both)
•No AF motor (I want to buy 50mm 1.8 lens in future but AF wont work on it)
•Not available on Installments
•Price is 4000/- higher than 1000D
•No Live View (May be useless for me to begin with as I dont have a laptop.

Canon EOS 1000D
Pros:
•Available on EMI’s (This may be major concern for me, as my friend is distributor of Canon)
•Live View
• Higher ISO performance bit better than Nikon
•AF motor (and Cheap 50mm 1.8 lens which has very good IQ)
•AF Bracketing, DOF Preview etc.

Cons:
•Low Light Focus is slow
•Built qua;ity not good
•Kit lens without IS
•No Spot Metering

These are few concerns. Actually I dont know which produces best ‘out of the camera’ colors. I like vibrant colors. and love shots with shallow DOF. Night and Long exposure photography may be my style.

So kindly help me choose…

Jagroop Singh
