I have been in the canon family now and I have made a decision to move to Nikon. I went from an Xsi to a 50D and I am figuring out which Nikon body to get. Should I just get a entry level like the new D3100 that has came out. Or maybe something like the D90. I was thinking about the D300 but that is all the money I have and I would rather spend it on glass. I mainly shoot portraits and weddings. And video on the camera is just something I would play around with. So I would like to hear on what bodies you recommend and some lenses as well. Since I am new to the Nikon family. And maybe some input on what I should know about Nikon.
There is also the rumored D7000 to replace the D90 so my options are endless at this point.
Honestly the reason for switching is the experience I have with a Nikon. I have been a fan of the Nikkor line and the lenses I want from it is far more cheaper then the ones I want for canon. Also shooting with a nikon the iso performance much more smoother then and a canon which is a must for me being that I mainly shoot indoors. Another plus for me is flash control I find it easier use a flash on a nikon rather then canon.

Suffice to say, the T1i is going to be my camera of choice for beginners with a smaller budget. Now this is not to say that the T3 won’t its job…it will! It’s a matter of dollars and sense with a touch of versatility. I think all of us have a bargain shopper within us that is always looking for MORE for less. This is what the T1i will give you! Now my suggestion for the T1i is for those not looking to spend too much on an entry level DSLR, as i would normally push the T2i or T3i. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think! Compare for yourself and make the decision that will best suit your needs. This is a side-by-side comparison of the most important features that separate the two. I will add this though, the T3 has a more advanced exposure metering system than the T1i, but this is hardly a deal breaker! Canon T3: Canon T1i: 12MP 15MP 2.7in Viewer 3in Viewer 720p @ 30fps 1080p @ 20fps 3.0fps (Burst rate) 3.4fps (Burst rate) Depth of field Button (No) Depth of field Button (Yes) Right around9 Right around9 With only a difference in price, why wouldn’t you consider the latter?! Additionally, the T1i has more dedicated buttons that makes the camera easier to operate allowing you to access all the …
I have been researching DSLR’s lately, and came up with these three options (in my budget):
-Nikon D3000 (0)
-Nikon D5000 (0)
-Nikon D3100 (0)
This would be my first DSLR camera, so I just need some advice on both cameras and lenses. My sister’s friend from college actually gave me some advice. She has a D90 and will be taking my senior pics. She told me that a Nikon D3100 would be the best option. However, this is the most expensive camera I would be willing to buy at this point.
I have been told the D3100 has a lot of nice features, and although it’s more expensive, it would be a great camera for me to grow into as my knowledge of photography and cameras grows as well. The D3000, on the other hand, has been said to be one of the best entry-level "for-beginners" DSLR camera.
So, I am wondering, should I invest in the more expensive camera, or just go with the cheap one? Also, which lens(es) should I be considering. I think at this point, if I were to buy the expensive camera, I would go for a lens under or around 0. If I were to buy the cheaper camera, I could probably spend up to twice that amount on a lens.
So…which camera would be best for me? And which lenses should I pair with it? Thanks in advance!
should I buy one of the entry level cameras that do not have a focus motor or should I start with a d90.. or is the d90 too much camera for a beginner? I see that the d5000 is really dropping in price.. but once you add 1 or two of the vr lenses your investment dollars are high. Would it be more cost effective to pay a bit more for the body (like the d90) so i can buy less expensive af lenses?
thank you for your help
www.facebook.com www.PhotographersOnUTube.com Pros of Prime Lens 1. Great for low light 2. Nicer Bokeh 3. Light weight 4. Cheaper than zoom lens in comparable picture quality Cons of Prime Lens 1. Fixed focal range. 2. You’ll have to change the lens if you want to go from wide angle to telephoto 3. Some prime lenses may not have a built in motor for entry level dslr. Pros of Zoom lens (fixed aperture) 1. Ability to zoom in without changing lens. 2. You don’t have to move around as much. 3. It’s good for shooting events and hyper kids. Cons of Zoom lens (fixed aperture) 1. Very expensive comparable to prime lens quality 2. Heavy 3. Did I say it’s very expensive? 4. Yes, it’s very expensive lol. Pros of kit lens (variable aperture) 1. Very cheap 2. Not as heavy as fixed aperture zoom lens Cons of kit lens (variable aperture) 1. Compromise on quality, big time. 2. Terrible for low light. 3. Not as nicer bokeh as the prime or fixed aperture zoom lens
