Nikon D5100 vs Canon T3i/600D Video Shootout
www.learningdslrvideo.com I was excited when I got some boxes in the mail, the Nikon D5100 and the Canon T3i/600D. Both are very comparable entry level DSLR’s. Both are about the same price. I know all I talk about on this site is Canon so I wanted to really give Nikon some air time now that is appears they are getting more serious about video on their DSLR’s. I think it would be great to have a bunch of Nikon D5100 tutorials on this site. Both of the cameras are really close in cost and they both have features like 1080p video and flip out screens. The Nikon doesn’t have all the frame rates that the Canon has but Nikon appears to have better low light performance. I was all set to spend a ton of time shooting with both and doing a really thorough review when I learned something shocking about the Nikon. You can’t shoot video in a full manual exposure on the Nikon like you can with the Canon EOS cameras. (You sort of can watch this video) The non manual movie mode is kind of a deal breaker for me, but instead of boxing it back up and sending it back, I wanted to still run a few comparisons first. Tests: Low light Aliasing Rolling shutter Bottom line is if you are serious about getting started with an entry level DSLR for any type of video that is going to require some tweaking, get the Canon T3i over the Nikon D5100. Prices for the Canon T3i www.bhphotovideo.com

What do you mean with d7100? 0:43
Nikon D5100… put it in manual mode… set your shutter speed, f-stop, white balance, etc… aim it at a location that has the ISO you desire and press the lock button. Why is everyone trippin sayin that you can’t manually adjust the settings on this camera? I have no problem doing it.
@differenceis d5100 doesn’t have manual controls on VIDEO mode… unlike canon 600d.
can i prevent d5100’s ev fluctuations on video mode?
canon ownes
Nikon factory in Thailand flooding. so you can found frog in the camera.
Canon for videos
Nikon for photos.
The Nikon D5100 has a much more natural picture. The Canon has the typical over-contrasty, over-saturated digital-looking bull$hit slathered on top of everything. The Nikon loox like good natural film cinema =)
Canon 600D is best in taking shortfilm and slomotion stuffs…nikon is also good..but only in taking pics..
I have Canon 600D
@Terskov Its more convenient to use and feels better in the hand.
I find, holding the D5100 in the hand, its like for 12 year olds, the grip is so small.
FAIL!! CANON @3:12
NIKON @3:21
@delmarz There is no fail. You are seeing video footage from the camera filming.
who cares what camera you have, just be thankful you have one ;p
@differenceis How much video record time does the D5100 give you
How much video record time does the D5100 give you?
@damiendjohnson 20 minutes continuous running time then will stop (very decent amount of time). And you can do that as many times as you want, space-permitting on your memory card.
This is a very hot topic so I’d like to say a couple things about the D5100: 1) You cannot manually adjust your aperture while camera is in record mode [just can't do it, shitty but it is what it is.. for me it's not a make-or-break]. 2) Cannot adjust ISO while in record mode but you can preset it. This is what MOST people are referring to when they say that the D5100 does not manually adjust, they mean on the fly (rec. enabled). Hope this is helpful because it is true and unbias.
@differenceis ok thank you
cool t-shirt !!
where did u bought ur shirt

9 people want your shirt
OK guys, I need YOUR OPINIONS. NIKON D5100 OR Canon 600D(t3i)
