help starting with photography?

Ok thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me..

Hi, I’m 15 just finishing up freshman year in high school and I’ve really wanted to be a photographer since i was around 8. I used to be amazed when our family photographer used to pull out all those fancy cameras. So right now I have a very basic point and shoot 3.1 mega pixel crappy camera, but im planning on taking two photography courses over the summer (digital photography 1 and 2) and i’m going to buy a entry level dslr for the classes. I also have been using the product "gimp" for a while to edit images but will be getting adobe cs3 during the classes aswell. I’m also reading a big book on taking photos digitally right now. I guess my question is what should I be doing right now? I have idea’s for a whole bunch of shots but i have a feeling that my camera wont really be able to take any kind of nice photos with my camera now. if i do take pictures where sound i post them? and is there anything else i should know.. i really want to get deeply into this stuff

THANKS!
sean

To be more specific, to the DSLR’s.But I have a little problem:which lens to buy if I mostly take street photography and nature shots…?My camera which I want to buy is an entry level Sony Alpha A300. Please mind my budget(300 dollars top). Sorry for my bad english. :P Thank you..

So if wanted to buy a Nikon for example:D40 I’d have to go to the capital city to buy, but my parents are way too busy…

I’m looking to invest in a good solid entry level DSLR. I’m not looking to go pro in photography but i would like a camera that I can have fun with and take some good pictures (Sports, landscape, etc) I have looked a lot at the Canon Digital Rebel XTi and the Nikon D40 and they look like solid affordable cameras. But i’m open to any other suggestions on cameras.

On top of this what kind of lenses would I need (this is one field where I have not done too much research and have no idea which to get).

I appreciate any help and thank you!
