I’ve been thinking about getting a DSLR for a while now and I’ve seen definite improvement on my pictures by borrowing my friends old Canon Rebel but the cost of entry level DSLRs is a pretty big deterrent for me. I found a Pentax x90 on amazon warehouse deals for 0 and I really like the 26x zoom lense, but I’m not sure if it would be at all comparable in terms of ease of manual settings and image quality to it’s more expensive, interchangeable lense alternatives. Right now I’m shooting on a canon powershot 520is so I know that pretty much anything would count as a step up.

I currently own a Nikon D3000… but after having owned a Canon Rebel XTi before, I never really liked the way this one felt in my hands. Well, I’m selling it and I plan to go back to Canon. I want to buy a dSLR that will carry me through a good bit of my ‘career’, I’m over the ‘entry-level’ dSLR’s. I do know how to work my camera in Manual mode and want to use the camera I purchase next for a long time.

My budget varies. I’m working with roughly 00 right now.

Also, I have two 35mm Canon SLR lenses… will they work with a newer model DSLR? They are the Quantaray (for Canon AF it says) 28-90mm 3.5-5.6 and a Quantaray AF 55-200 4-5.6
About the lenses… I’m not too worried about whether or not they are perfect. I found them in the attic of an old house I was helping to clean out before a remodel. I was able to keep them. I don’t have to have them.

My focus right now is buying a good body to work with. I already have plans for a 50mm 1.4 lens. And another with slightly more range than the kit lens. I keep forgetting what the mm are on it though.
