I have had P&S cameras all my life and i think it’s time to upgrade to an entry-level DSLR. Because of my budget i am going either for the Nikon D40 or the Sony Alpha A200. Which one would be better image quality wise and since i have a dog…fast wise? Both are the same amount of money but i’m not sure since the Nikon has only 6MP and is outdated and the Sony has 10MP and is this year’s model. Which one?

Me and my son have talked and talked and came up with something, that maybe buying a Point+Shoot camera is useless, instead, if he was to get 0 i would buy him a DSLR, a Nikon D40, sure its only an Entry-Level camera but his 13… Is there any other DSLR cameras that is around the same price of the D40, or is the D40 pretty much the way to go?

I’m an entry level photographer and planning to buy Nikon D3100, please suggest if any other camera model with the better features exists for the same price.
Please let me know whether Sigma or Tamron lens are good for D3100 and also suggest me a better low budget lens for D3100.

I can’t keep comparing camera specs. I have to make this purchase TODAY. Should I get the Nikon d40x or the Canon XTi. You don’t have to elaborate a whole lot. If you can just give me a good one sentence response, I’ll appreciate it. These two (entry level DSLR) models are the only ones in my price range that seem to be favored by most. If you have an alternative to these in the same price range, let me know. Just the bottom line answer would be appreciated. I’m not a pro photographer, although I do sell some of my prints.

im buying my first dslr (i’ve had regular digital cameras in the past, all were canon). i need a little help finding a good one. you should know:
it would be used for mostly posed pictures of people and nature, extensive yet simple focus options would be nice. also some candids/action shots. a little bit of everything, really .. also, it must have video recording, and be under 0. although ive been with canon my whole life, i’d be willing to switch, but ONLY to nikon. which company is better (especially in terms of customer service???? canon wasnt fantastic in that area. overall, any suggestions would be great.
