I’m looking to save up for a SLR camera, and I know I’m going to be saving up for a while. I understand how they work, but when I look at possible models to buy, there are too many terms that I just don’t understand.
Another Q. Do I want to have several interchangeable lenses? or is that getting too expensive for an amateur photographer?
Also, could someone suggest a good entry-level dSLR camera for a beginner, with a LCD screen (not necessarily a live-preview, but just to look at the photos taken previously, if that makes sense…)
Thanks
Oh, and any cameras you suggest, can you give their price? I want to know how long to save for
And is it worth it getting a used dSLR or not?

I’m in the market for a good entry level DSLR. The issue is that many dealers in India sell cameras without manufacturer warranty. This puts a question mark on the quality/legality of the product and I don’t want to get ripped off buying a refurbished product. There’s nothing that will help me avoid buying a used product but I know that refurbished products have certain identification marks. If I get to know what these are at least I will be able to avoid buying such products.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi.
I’ve been using a Canon EOS 30D with the ‘entry-level’ lens
(EF-s 18-55mm f3.5~5.6 USM II) for about a year now. I was
thinking of buying a more sophisticated(??) lens but don’t
know where to start. Can anyone recommend something?
I mostly take pictures of people slightly close-up.
THANKS!

Thinking of getting the Pentax K-x based on some answers I received on Y!A about what would be a good entry-level dSLR. One thing I like is it has image stabilization built in to the camera.
My question here is do you think this is a good camera for later on buying lenses for? If I want to expand my gear does this camera give me a good opportunity for lenses or is it better to invest in a Canon? Thank you.

I’d like to spend under 700 for a camera and lenses. What is most user friendly? I’m VERY new to DSLR’s so I don’t know which ones are best. Please give specific models if possible. Thanks!
Thanks for all the answers…they are all great!
