I’m looking to get into photography quite seriously, and I have been looking at reviews and what not of quite a few camera’s that slot into the category of "entry level".

I would like something better than the Nikon D60, and I’ve had a look at the Nikon D90, the Canon 500D and the Nikon D5000 and they are all marginally better and worse than each other in different aspects.

Basically I would like a DSLR that I can keep for a number of years (2-5) without needing to upgrade. Live View is rather important, but not 100% necessary. I have a budget of about 00 that could stretch to 00.

I’ve only really looked at Nikon and Canon as those are two brands I am familiar with, so any advice on what camera would suit me would be very appreciated.

I’m looking for a DSLR to buy in the -600 range. Looking at the Nikon D60 right now. Is there anything newer or better that is on about the same price level? Thanks!
